I cannot thank Derek enough for the care taken by him in respect to my order for a signed print of Christian in 1970’s London. His is customer care par excellence. His personal e-mails to me were greatly appreciated. I am also very much indebted to him, to be able to share Christian ‘s story through his moving, haunting pictures of Christian, both as a young lion in London with John and Ace and later with John, Ace and George Adamson at Kora. Through buying Derek ‘s print of Christian I have contributed in a small way to the George Adamson Wildlife preservation Trust, and that cannot be a bad thing. The natural World is a true miracle and to be losing habitats and species as we are today, is an unforgivable loss.
Honoring the life and legacy of Derek Cattani, a cherished member of the LionAid Board of Trustees and the official photographer of Christian the Lion.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Derek Cattani on June 24, 2024. Derek, renowned as the official photographer of Christian the Lion, joined LionAid in 2019 and became a Director in 2022. His contributions to lion conservation were invaluable, including innovative fundraising efforts and active involvement in projects to mitigate human-wildlife conflict in Kenya. Derek’s passion and dedication to preserving the majestic Lions is being continued by his daughter, Katrina, who has been accepted as Trustee & Director of LionAid in his place and continues the fundraising endeavour for the Merrueshi project.
The signed book is available directly from LionAid at a cost of £40 each
